Enable virtualUSB for host machines Overview Organization admins enable virtualUSB on individual host machines from Device Management in Kobiton Portal, and set the network routing each machine uses to reach end users. Enabling virtualUSB on a host machine makes the devices connected to that machine reachable through virtualUSB. Installing and signing in to the virtualUSB desktop app is a separate task. See Set up virtualUSB. Availability The virtualUSB tab appears only for organizations subscribed to virtualUSB. Organizations without the subscription see the Settings dialog with the Max Parallel Tests tab only. Requirements An account with the ADMIN predefined role A host machine already connected to the organization For self-managed routing, an IP address for the host machine that is reachable from end users' machines Network routing options Network routing determines the address that virtualUSB connections use to reach a host machine. Managed by Kobiton Kobiton configures and maintains the routing. No address is entered, and the Connection Address column reads Auto-configured by Kobiton. This option is available only when the organization has a Kobiton-managed virtual network configured. When it is not configured, the option is unavailable. Contact Kobiton Support to have it set up. Self-managed You supply the address. Enter the IP address that end users' machines use to reach the host machine. Kobiton does not verify reachability, so confirm the address works from an end user’s network before saving. On Standalone deployments, the Network Routing column is not shown. Every enabled host machine requires a Connection Address. Enable virtualUSB on a host machine Sign in to Kobiton Portal using an account with the ADMIN predefined role. Select your profile picture, then choose Settings. Open Device Management. Select Settings at the top of the screen. Open the virtualUSB tab. Find the host machine you want to configure. Search by machine name or IP address, or select Show enabled only to list machines that already have virtualUSB enabled. Turn on the toggle in the Enabled column for the host machine. Set Network Routing for the machine: For Managed by Kobiton, no further input is required. For Self-managed, enter the IP address in Connection Address. The field is pre-filled with the machine’s current IP address. A connection address is required, and Save is blocked with an inline message if the field is empty. Repeat for any other host machines. Changes across both tabs are saved together. Select Save. Closing or cancelling the dialog with unsaved changes prompts you to confirm before the changes are discarded. Verify the configuration After a successful save, the dialog closes and each host machine with virtualUSB enabled shows a purple virtualUSB badge on its row in Device Management. If some machines are updated and others are rejected, the dialog stays open and reports which machines failed. Your entries are preserved so you can correct them and save again. Disable virtualUSB on a host machine Turn off the toggle in the Enabled column for the machine, then select Save. The virtualUSB badge is removed from the machine’s row in Device Management.
